Sanjay Dutt insists there is no truth to stories of a reported fight between him and actor Salman Khan. “These reports are rubbish. Salman is my younger brother. After the supposed fight, I shot the Big Boss promo with him. Do you work with someone so coolly after a fight?” he says.
The supposed spat broke out at his wife Maanayata’s surprise birthday bash, held at Dutt’s sister Namrata’s house in Mumbai on July 21. Salman had allegedly refused to address Maanayata as ‘bhabhi’ (sister-in-law), which didn’t go down too well with Dutt. The Dabangg star was miffed that his pal Sanjay had refused to play the role of his father in the upcoming film Bodyguard, but agreed to do a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s superhero project RA.One. Also, Sanjay hadn’t invited SRK for the birthday party, choosing instead to host a private dinner for him and wife Gauri a few days later. Dutt explains, “Shah Rukh is like family. Why can’t I invite him over for dinner?”Later, however, Salman apparently called Sanjay and apologised for his behaviour to stop him from opting out of the Bigg Boss 5 shoot.
Dutt says all is well between them. “Even if we do quarrel, it will be like a fight between brothers. We always come back together. I have known Salman since he was young. Salim saab (Salman’s father) was writing dialogues for Naam (1986), so I used to go to their house. At that time, Salman was grooming himself to be an actor. There is a special bond between us, it could have something to do with our past lives.”
