Emma Watson Elected as 'Queen of the Tearling'

Emma Watson is set to headline "Queen of the Tearling" for Warner Bros, Variety learns. In the big-screen adaptation of Erika Johanson's upcoming novel, the Sam of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" not only lands a leading role, but is also tapped as executive producer with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman also attached to it. As of now, no director or writer is on board yet.

Dubbed "a female 'Game of Thrones' " by its publisher Harper Collins, the novel is part of fantasy trilogy that centers on 19-year-old princess Kelsea Glynn. Partly inspired by then-Senator Obama's speech in 2007, Glynn must reclaim her deceased mother's throne and redeem her kingdom, the Tearling, from forces of corruption and dark magic of The Red Queen, the sorceress-tyrant of the neighboring country, Mortmesne.

Heyman will join forces with Jeff Clifford to produce the feature under the banner of Heyday Films. Courtenay Valenti and Racheline Benveniste are set to oversee it for the studio.

Watson is currently seen in "This Is the End", in which she made a cameo appearance along with Rihanna and Mindy Kaling. In a recent interview with USA Today, the English beauty says that she's interested in taking on theater.

"I'd love to try theater. I've never done it before. I did some theater at Brown. I love the camaraderie of a theater group," says Watson. "As soon as I graduate, that's my next [thing]."

Akshay Kumar to star in Namastey London 2!

Since many days director Vipul Shah has been wanting to make a sequel to his mega hit movie Namastey London which released in 2007. But several problems have stopped him in doing so until Akshay Kumar started happily collaborating for the movie with Vipul again.

Akshay Kumar has reportedly signed for the movie as a gift to Vipul on his birthday. The two celebrities are also good friends and Vipul has confirmed the news saying, “We had been planning the film from a long time. We had been waiting for the right script. A couple of days back I read the script to Akshay and he loved it. In fact, he said he would sign the film on my birthday. What started as a joke is now true.”

The duo have done six films together till now which include movies like Aankhen (2002) and Singh Is Kinng (2008). Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s pairing has always been a hit and there are no questions about that. The pair also shined in Welcome (2007). But the makers haven’t decided the female lead of the sequel as of yet.

The actor is presently busy with his upcoming flick which is a remake of a South hit Thuppakki. Akshay is expected to start with Namastey London 2 after he’s finished with his present commitments.

Earlier there were reports coming in that suggested that Akshay wanted the Singh Is Kinng to be done first but now it seems Namastey London 2 will be coming sooner than expected.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians Recap: Rob is Kim's Pregnant Friend

Last night's offering of Keeping Up With the Kardashians continued the now-familiar storyline of Bruce and Brody Jenner trying to repair their relationship.

Meanwhile, Kris Jenner and the girls battled allegations from Ellen Pearson, Robert Kardashian Sr.'s ex-wife, with emotions running high as always.

Rob Kardashian's weight loss became a major story last month. Now, we get to see the precursor - the gain, and the concern of his family members.

He'd put on 50 pounds, and felt he was "embarrassing to the family" after weighing in at 241 pounds with a 45-inch waist. Wow dude. Minus 241.

Not only that, be missed the private training sessions Kim Kardashian had set up for him, even as his body fat reached upwards of 50 percent. 50!

"I really needed a pregnant friend," Kim joked, in the line of the night. When Rob insisted he wasn't pregnant, Kim said, "I know, but you eat like one.”

Plus 70, because even though it was clearly scripted, ouch!

The tough love continued, too. Khloe's plan was to get him to binge hard, getting him so sick on junk food that he'd never want to eat it again.

Unfortunately, the plan backfired, however Rob did say later that he wanted to get fit and planned to work out with Khloe's husband Lamar. Plus 40.

He's proving a man of his word, too, looking noticeably slimmer and saying his goal is to get down to 200 pounds by July 4. Good work, Rob. Plus 20.

Meanwhile, Kris & Ko. continued their feud with her ex's other ex, which seems designed primarily to stretch Keeping Up into its hour-long time slot.

Seriously. Don't you miss the half-hour days? Minus 50.

As for Brody and Bruce, we've been hearing whispers for awhile, but it was surprising to learn just how absent Bruce was from Brody Jenner's life.

No wonder Brody said Bruce is not the best father. Minus 50.

While it's terrific to see that they both care enough to work on things now, you can't help but feel that Bruce's image has been dented a bit by this.

Plus 150 for E! showing his faults, though, and for the father-son duo making strides to improve the situation. Because that's what it's all about, no?

Justin Bieber Sued for Ordering Gun-Based Guard Attack on Photographer

You know what they say: it's all fun and games until someone pulls a gun on a photographer.

As previously reported, a journalist named Jeffrey Binion accused Justin Bieber's bodyguards of assault last week, stemming from an incident outside The Hit Factory in Miami.

Now Binion has filed a lawsuit against Justin and one of his employees.

He alleges that Justin was behind the attack, ordering a bodyguard named Hugo Hesny to throw the reporter against a wall and grab him by the throat.

Binion then says Hesny "displayed a gun" [holstered under his shirt]" while he and the other bodyguards swiped the memory card from his camera.

"Justin Bieber is now an adult, and he should act like one," Binion's lawyer tells TMZ. "He needs to learn that he cannot use bodyguards as weapons to harm innocent people. Bieber’s violent behavior toward photographers must end, and he should take responsibility for his actions."

There are questions over whether Hesny is licensed to work as a bodyguard in the state of Florida and whether he has a permit to carry a concealed weapon there.

Binion is suing for bodily injury, pain and suffering, mental anguish and incurred medical expenses.

It's unclear at the moment what actually took place here, of course, but Bieber was caught on tape last week, seemingly directing the attack of ANOTHER photographer.

Paris Jackson: Suicide Note Found, Meat Cleaver Used in Attempt - Sizzling Buzz

A couple grisly details have come out regarding Paris Jackson's suicide attempt this morning.

As previously reported, the 15-year old daughter of Michael was rushed to the hospital around 2 a.m. following a 911 call that TMZ confirms was made as a result of Paris dialing the suicide hotline.

The operator was reportedly so shaken by the conversation that she called the authorities.

When they arrived, EMTs found a suicide note at the scene and also saw that Paris used a meat cleaver on her arm. She had also taken a significant number of Motrin pills.

Paris received "numerous stitches" for the wound and was then placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold for 72 hours.

In a statement, Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson have said:

"Thank you for the outpouring of concern and support for Paris. She is safe and doing fine. We truly appreciate you respecting our family privacy at this time."

Teresa Giudice Slams Husband Infidelity Rumors, Defends Family Nanny - Sizzling Buzz

So much for not speaking out about her marriage.

Within 24 hours of Life & Style running a cover story that details her husband's alleged affair with family nanny Nicole Cemelli, Teresa Giudice has come out and blasted the allegation as ridiculous.

Of Cemelli, Giudice writes on her website: "We've known her and her family since she was in high school. No secret. No mystery."

She adds:

"Joe and I are on TV, so I get it that our lives are open for everyone and their mother to criticize. What's unfair and completely disgusting is that you would drag every person we ever speak to into your fake stories. It's not acceptable to falsely portray our friends, family, business associates, fans, and even acquaintances this way."

Along those lines, Teresa says Cemelli is “freaking out now... getting harassing calls at her work, being stalked on the Internet, and even followed.”

And a lawsuit may be filed as a result.

"You know we have four daughters that are personally hurt every time you print these lies, but that doesn't seem to faze you at all. Maybe being sued for defamation finally will."

Lindsay Lohan Plea Bargain: REJECTED By Moron!

This girl is either crazy like a fox or just full-on crazy at this point.

Lindsay Lohan has rejected a plea deal that would have kept her out of jail in her lying-to-cops case, opting to take her chances at trial. Why, you ask?

Because she's totes innocent and doesn't have a problem, OBVI!

Her lawyer, Mark Heller, has been trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat this week, and was close to a deal with Santa Monica and L.A. City prosecutors.

They insisted that the actress accept a significant amount of time in a residential rehab facility - and NO JAIL TIME - but Heller still wasn't having it.

Prosecutors even bent a little and offered somewhere around 30 days rather than the 60 they initially wanted her to be in rehab, still Heller didn't accept.

The deal fell through, however TMZ sources say "negotiations are ongoing."

As expected, Lohan and Heller are reportedly not on the same place here.

He's willing to accept a deal that involves counseling and rehab, even BS'ing that she would undergo extensive psychotherapy and set up a youth foundation.

To Lindsay, though, this is all just "punishment for something I didn't do."

Always in denial, never taking responsibility. Not that we're surprised, but Heller said earlier this week that she had finally seen the error of her ways.

Guess that's what happens when you try to speak for Lindsay Lohan.

In the end, prosecutors aren't worried if they can't strike a plea bargain, because they like their chances if it comes down to trial, beginning March 18.

Lohan is charged with lying to police regarding her June car crash, and for violating her probation as a result. Both aspects could land her in a jail cell.

Take the plea deal and go to rehab, girl. For your own legal sake as well as your life expectancy and that of anyone who happens to live near you.

Bigg Boss 6: Imam’s Facebook fans still lament his loss

Ever since Imam Siddiqui’s entered the famous house in Bigg Boss 6, he has hogged the limelight with his antics and also for the way he entertained controversies. He won the Best Entertainer award on the Indian reality show for 'entertaining' his fans so well.

After Bigg Boss Season 6 got over, Imam Siddiqui’s Facebook fan page has become the new craze.

The page was created in November and within two months he has over 26,000 fans. Each one of them believe that Imam truly deserved to win Bigg Boss 6 instead of Urvashi Dholakia.

“I was watching d show only because of Imam only. He is the winner time out (sic),” posted Nitin Kumar Gupta on the FB page.

Imam often got into spats with his fellow contestants and even stripped on the show following which he was thrown out of the show. He soon reentered to rescue to dipping TRP’s, however his misdemeanor continued.

Urvashi Dholakia, the winner of the show eventually, and someone who dons the role of a popular vamp on the daily soaps, on the other hand, was calm and a relatively balanced individual.

But Imam’s fans have a different opinion. Chhinder Pal posted: “It is so great on part of Imam, who disowned his true victory in favour of Urvashi, who surely got very less votes than Imam. It might be selfishness of Colors TV to declare their daily soap actress as BB winner, but the person who won hearts of People, is one and only one Imam Siddiqui.”

Clearly, Imam's fans are not ready to let go of their grievance quickly since they believe that no one deserved to win more than the personality that Imam presented to the world while he was in the house.

This will make for some interesting watch and reactions when it is time for Bigg Boss 7 to commence.

Stardust Awards 2013: Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka are big winners

SRK won Star of the Year (Male) and Best Actor (Editor's Choice) for Jab Tak Hai Jan. Priyanka took home Star of the Year (Female) and Best Actress (Drama) for Barfi!.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra took home two trophies each at the Stardust Awards. Shah Rukh Khan won the Star of the Year (Male) trophy along with Best Actor (Editor's Choice) for Jab Tak Hai Jan. While Priyanka bagged the Star of the Year (Female) award and Best Actress (Drama) awards for Barfi!.

Surprisingly, Ranbir Kapoor, who has won almost all the Best Actor awards this year for his performance in Barfi!, was completely overlooked at the awards night that was held in Mumbai on January 26, 2013. Ranbir aside, almost everyone who is anyone in Bollywood scored a prize, with the notable exception of Salman Khan, who had two blockbusters last year with Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2.

Sridevi shared Best Actress (Drama) for English Vinglish with Priyanka. Best Actor (Drama) went to Hrithik Roshan for his performance in Agneepath. Sanjay Dutt was named the Best Actor in Negative Role for Agneepath.

Vidya Balan continued her winning streak with the award for Best Actress (Thriller / Action) for Kahaani. Akshay Kumar was named the Best Actor in the same category for Rowdy Rathore and Khiladi 786.

Anushka Sharma and Abhishek Bachchan took home Best Actress and Actor (Comedy/Romance) for Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Bol Bachchan respectively. Amitabh Bachchan received the Star of the Century award.

Manoj Bajpayee and Ayushmann Khurrana shared the Best Actor trophy for Gangs Of Wasseypur and Vicky Donor repectively. Director Farah Khan scooped up a surprise Best Actress win for her on-screen debut in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi.

Ishaqzaade stars Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra were chosen Superstars of Tomorrow. The Best Debut award was shared by Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra for Student Of The Year. Gauri Shinde was named Best Debut Director for English Vinglish.

Shoojit Sircar won the award for Best Director for Vicky Donor, which was also adjudged the Best Film at the ceremony. However, and confusingly, Film Of The Year went to Barfi!.

And last but not the least, Bipasha Basu was named the Best Style Icon Of The Year.

Celebrities added glitz and glamour as they walked the red carpet in style.

Sonakshi Sinha wore a blue off-shoulder Marchesa dress and Anushka Sharma was chic in black Armani.

Vidya Balan was yet again seen in a sari by her favourite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Style Icon Of The Year winner Bipasha Basu looked glamorous in a Gucci dress and a new hairdo.

Box Office Report: 'Hansel & Gretel' Stalls; 'Parker,' 'Movie 43' Flop

Paramount and MGM's R-rated version of the classic fairy tale stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton; "Movie 43" draws a D CinemaScore despite its star-studded ensemble cast.

The domestic box office took a pounding Friday as a trio of new films underwhelmed.

After a healthy start Thursday night, Paramount and MGM's R-rated Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters slowed Friday night, grossing $6.1 million for the day to place No. 1 and earning a B CinemaScore.

PHOTOS: Behind the Scenes of THR's Jeremy Renner Cover Shoot

That puts the Jeremy Renner-Gemma Arterton film on course for a $17 million weekend, notably less than expected (it had looked like Hansel & Gretel would hit $25 million). Some Hollywood studio executives blamed bad weather in the mid-Atlantic and in the west for Friday's sobering results.

Hansel & Gretel, costing $50 million to produce, could make up ground overseas. It opened in Russia last weekend to a healthy $8.6 million, placing No. 1.

VIDEO: 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' Trailer: Jeremy Renner Bloodies a Fairy Tale

The news was all-out dismal for the Jason Statham-Jennifer Lopez action-thriller Parker as well as Movie 43, featuring one of the most star-studded ensemble casts ever mounted.

Parker posted an opening-day gross of $2.1 million to come in No. 5 behind Hansel & Gretel, Mama, Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty. The pic now is expected to gross $6.3 million for the weekend versus $8 million to $10 million.

Directed by Taylor Hackford (Ray), Parker is being distributed domestically by FilmDistrict. Moviegoers gave the pic a B+ CinemaScore.

Movie 43, drawing a D CinemaScore, grossed $1.8 million for a projected weekend take of only $5 million.

STORY: 'Movie 43': What the Critics Are Saying

The roster of stars appearing in Movie 43 -- a series of comic shorts and the brainchild of Peter Farrelly -- includes Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Emma Stone, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Naomi Watts and many others. A raft of filmmakers and talent directed the various vignettes, including Elizabeth Banks, Brett Ratner, Griffin Dunne and Bob Odenkirk.

Relativity Media spent a modest $6 million to make Movie 43 and says it was a creative risk worth taking.
Universal's horror pic Mama, produced by Guillermo del Toro, continued to benefit from its teen friendly PG-13 rating, placing No. 2 on its second Friday with $3.9 million and pushing its total to $39.7 million.
Academy Award contenders continue to lure audiences. The Weinstein Co.'s Silver Linings Playbook, directed by David O. Russell, continued to shine one week after expanding nationwide, grossing $2.34 million for domestic cume of $61.8 million.

Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, from Sony and Annapurna Pictures, all but tied with Silver Linings on Friday, grossing $2.32 million for a domestic total of $62.4 million.

Movie review: Race 2 - Sizzling Buzz Really Hot

Cast:Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ameesha Patel, Anil Kapoor
Director: Abbas-Mustan

SPOILERS AHEAD

A significant chunk of Mumbai filmdom’s creative output has changed for the better since the year 2008, the first quarter of which saw the release of Race, a Hollywood rip-off that had Bollywood critics run for cover.

Nearly five years on, the directing duo of Abbas-Mustan is still at it – cantering around aimlessly with a convoluted thriller that zips, zaps and zooms through an amoral landscape peopled by sharks and bloodhounds whose only trip in life is to settle old scores, hatch new conspiracies and, when necessary, lay murderous traps.

On the face of it, Race 2 is a glitzy, action-packed entertainer. Scratch the surface – in fact, that is all there is to the film – and what you are left with is superficial style bereft of logic and substance.

But, then, isn’t that the failsafe formula that has stood many a Bollywood pulp-maker in good stead over the years?

Race 2 proves how difficult it can be for a producer to let go of an idea that yielded a box-office bonanza the first time around. The makers of this film obviously haven’t heard of, or do not believe in, the law of diminishing returns.

Race 2 isn’t so much a sequel as an ill-advised rehash. Revenge, one character says, is a dish best served cold. Ideas, for sure, aren’t best served stale.

This is the second year in succession after 2012’s Players that Abbas-Mustan have the honour of unleashing the first Bollywood biggie of the year. Race 2, like Players, is big only on nausea-inducing clatter.

The obvious question is: does this slapdash scurry to the finishing line really have the steam to replicate the kind of runaway box-office success that the prelude had enjoyed?

Or will Race 2 go the way of the wayward Players, the Burmawalla siblings’ official Hindi remake of the British crime caper flick, The Italian Job?

At the heart of Race 2 are two wrangling men endowed with sculpted bodies and an ingrained air of masculine insouciance.

The brawny John Abraham (replacing the relatively scrawny Akshaye Khanna of the earlier film) ensures that the sequel has a markedly higher beefcake and testosterone quotient.

Keeping the boys company is a trio of bimbos all too eager to flash generous décolletage while playing second fiddle. All of the above is, of course, par for the course in an Abbas-Mustan film.

Many of the faces and the principal location have changed in the sequel, but the overall veneer is pretty much the same.

Race 2 is slickly packaged around dramatic twists and turns that fly at you thicker and faster than you care to count.

Race 2 moves at a fair clip and is packed with explosions, stunts and chases that might be crowd-pleasing. The trouble is that the narrative is too breathless for its own good.

To be fair, some of the implausible action sequences are startlingly good. However, they do not add up to a convincing enough whole that can paper over the holes in the narrative.

Some Bollywood directors tend to labour under the misplaced belief that a film must be crammed, end to end, with relentless excitement, extravagant dance routines and ear-splitting background music for it to find ready takers. Excess does not always yield success.

The action in Race 2 takes place in Turkey, where, we learn, that the Indian underworld is just as active as it is back home.

Ranveer Singh (Saif Ali Khan), a rare remnant from Race, scours the hot spots of Istanbul in search of the mastermind behind the killing of his beloved Sonia (Bipasha Basu in a cameo).

In his risky quest, Ranveer has to contend with a slew of men and women who, like him, are out to make a quick buck and get the hell out of here.

And, of course, there is ex-cop Robert D’Costa (Anil Kapoor), the only man who Ranvir seemed to be at ease with when the curtains came down on the first film.

The private eye has a gloriously daft female assistant in the form of Ameesha Patel. The actress isn’t seen much these days on the screen. Just as well!

Istanbul generally looks great as a backdrop through the lens of Ravi Yadav’s camera and much of the film is rather easy on the eye. But when the cars and bloodthirsty men get in the way, they only serve to muck up the view.

As for the women on the screen (Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez), they strut around like wound-up automatons that are all decked-up but have nowhere to go.

Is Race 2 on your mind? Get rid of it pronto. This is a wreck of a movie strictly for action junkies who might be looking for a feverish two-and-a-half-hour ride that is far more giddy than heady.

American Idol Finalists Defend Show Against Allegations of Racism

A quartet of former finalists have come out and vehemently denies charges that American Idol is racist.

Melinda Doolittle (Season 6), Vonzell Solomon (Season 4), Taylor Hicks (Season 5) and Casey Abrams (Season 10) all spoke to TMZ this week and defended the program against charges from nine other finalists that claim Idol shows a racial bias in disqualifying contestants.

Here is what each ex-Idol hopeful had to say:

Doolittle: "It is shocking to see such allegations. In my experience on the show, the 'Idol' team strives to champion everyone, regardless of race. However, each contestant is explicitly told that the withholding of information that may compromise the show or artist, can and will result in immediate disqualification."

Solomon: "I didn’t experience any of that [racial discrimination] ... all of our contracts were clear about how the background checks worked and that we could be disqualified if we lied about our past."

Hicks: "American Idol is for everyone. All walks of life go through the show. Not once did I see the show discriminate towards anyone. It’s all about the votes."

Abrams: I don't know why they are biting the hand that fed them. Those guys beat thousands of people who wanted to be on TV. Idol is picky, but I'm not sure about racist.

Miley Cyrus strikes again!

Miley Cyrus Shocks Again With Racy New Cosmo Cover

Just when we think she can’t shock us anymore, she outdoes herself. The 20-year-old former Disney star is rocking the March cover of Cosmopolitan in nothing more than a white blazer and low-slung white pants … and no shirt or bra.

See More From The Miley Cyrus Story in Cosmopolitan

Add this racy look to the plethora of things the “Can’t Be Tamed” singer has done to raise eyebrows over the years: the risqué clothing, provocative photos, drug dalliances, that haircut, and her shocking engagement to Liam Hemsworth at the age of 19. But not only does she not care what we think, Cyrus has zero regrets over how it all went down.

"Some of the worst things that have happened in my career, like things getting leaked, have actually been what's best for me, because people knew when I was on [‘Hannah Montana’] that I was really growing up,” she tells the magazine. “I never faked anything. I never played the Disney game of smiling and being a princess and then suddenly having a hard time, saying, ‘That isn't who I really am.’”

Miley Cyrus’ Best Looks Of All Time
That same attitude is being applied as she plans her upcoming wedding to the “Hunger Games” actor, who popped the question last May with a 3.5-carat ring. Don’t expect it to be a big “who’s who in Hollywood” kind of ordeal, like Kim Kardashian’s $10 million fiasco.

“I feel the bigger the wedding, the more it becomes a target for people to ruin,” says Cyrus. “So we just want it to be small, with the people who we’d take bullets for. I don’t want to be looking at those photos and see people that I wish hadn’t been there. C’mon, I can’t even get coffee without a million paparazzi following me, so I don’t know why anyone thinks I’m going to have this huge, extravagant wedding. That is so not who I am."

Over-The-Top Celeb Engagement Rings

Regardless of the kind of wedding they have, Cyrus already considers Hemsworth “her hubby,” which she let slip during the interview while describing how awestruck she still is by his good looks, four years after they met during the filming of “The Last Song.”

“I’ll literally look at him and be like ‘You are hot, dear God!’” she gushes to Cosmo. “The other day, I turned on the pool heater and it was steaming, and he walked outside and took off his clothes and jumped in the pool. I was like, ‘I’m gonna faint – the hottest guy of my life is in a steaming pool. This looks like a Playgirl shoot.’ So I took a photo and made it my background on my phone and was like, ‘Who’s that? He is so hot!’ That’s my hubby.”

The Hottest Celebrity Short Hairstyles

Although Cyrus continues to have both acting and music careers, she insists that her husband-to-be remains her top priority. “Number one is my relationship with Liam,” says Cyrus, whose fourth album, a blend of hip-hop and metal featuring Mary J. Blige and Tyler the Creator, is set to be released very soon. “That’s what I feel the most confident in because you never know; there’s so much hype behind my new record, but it could come out and, worst-case scenario, everyone f--king hates it.”
