To make any film work well, good promotional techniques are required. In the generation of youngistaan, a political film has to be carefully promoted. This is why the team of Rajneeti has come up with a game plan. The leads of the film, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif will be touring all over the country in April to discuss cinema and politics with students at a select few campuses.
Director Prakash Jha stated that eight cities and colleges have been chosen. Ranbir and Katrina will be debating on politics and the part that the youth plays in politics. This is so that Rajneeti goes beyond being just a film. He expresses that today’s politics is no longer represented by a veteran politician but by someone who can connect with the youth, like Rahul Gandhi. He confirms that his actors will be reaching out to a generation that understands and follows Rahul’s politics.
Jha will be meeting Rahul and his mother, Sonia before the film releases in order to clear any doubts that the film is based on their lives. He also wants to invite Rahul to join the debate that the stars will be having at Delhi University. The names of the eight cities and colleges are being kept secret in order to avoid security issues.
Ranbir will speak on the spot while Katrina is going through the political news and current affairs. She is trying her best to stay updated so her role as a politician in Rajneeti seems realistic and credible. Katrina is also known to rehearse her lines quite a lot and prepare much before shooting for a scene while Ranbir is spontaneous.
Now that Rajneeti’s promotional activities need to be carried out, Ranbir and Katrina will be keeping each other company for a while. Katrina’s stand on this, however, is that Ranbir is a good friend of hers and she doesn’t want to step away from promoting her film just because of what others think or say.
Jha has planned premieres of Rajneeti from May 30 – June 6. New York, London, Muscat, Bahrain, Delhi and Mumbai will be some of the places where the movie premieres.
