Prince William and Kate Middleton take off for Canada!

Hey there, I'm Lauren, and we've got your look at the couple as they embark on their journey. It's Kate's first visit to North America — but this isn't William's first time in Canada. Get the lowdown on the Duke of Cambridge's somewhat sentimental history with the country in today's Sizzling BuZz.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are off to Canada! Kate was looking polished in a navy dress and jacket this morning, as the newlyweds left Heathrow airport in this footage from CBS News. The couple will touch down in Ottawa today to kick off their nine-day tour of the country, and while it may be their first foreign tour since their wedding, William is already familiar with our neighbors to the north. TresSugar's Annie Scudder is here to bring you Will's history with Canada.

Editor, no verbatim: The royal family are the sovereign heads of state in Canada, so William made a couple trips to Canada while growing up as a young prince. In fact, his very first foreign tour with his parents was to Canada. In 1991, he accompanied Charles and Diana and his brother Harry to different areas, including Niagara Falls, Ottawa, and Toronto where he waved with his family aboard the Royal Yacht Brittania and greeted some young girls. Even back then he had a lot of female admirers.

Editor, no verbatim: But the last time William was in Canada was in 1998, at the age of sixteen. He went skiing with Charles and Harry, and also toured several schools as part of his young royal duties. It was William's first trip with his father after Diana's death, so Canada definitely has plenty of meaning for him.

Today William and Kate are scheduled to go to the National War Memorial and a barbecue in Ottawa before celebrating Canada Day tomorrow. It also happens to be Diana's 50th birthday.
