Vidya Balan gets superstitious about red!

The unprecedented success of The Dirty Picture (2011) has resulted in Vidya Balan shedding all inhibitions as an actor. She will now be seen in the lavani item number Mala jau dya na ghari… in Vidhu Vinod Chopra Productions’ next, Ferrari Ki Sawari. And the actor insisted on being featured in a red sari instead of the traditional green attire usually worn.

Confirming the news, director Rajesh Mapuskar reveals, “The Dirty Picture was such a huge hit that she feels that red is her lucky colour. She insisted on doing the song in a red sari. The result is looking fantastic.”

Vidya, on the other hand, feels that people were unable to tap her sensual side, and so was never offered an item number before this. “I don’t think anyone could believe that I could be so sensual,” she says, adding, “I am still not a dancer. But I have begun to enjoy dancing more now.”

Prod her on whether she believes that this development is the result of her act in The Dirty Picture, and she says, “I guess everyone saw a different side of me in the film,” she laughs. Vidya has worked with Rajesh from the time when he was an associate director to Rajkumar Hirani in Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006). “So there is a special connection that I share with him.”

Vidya has finished shooting the song and is currently busy promoting her forthcoming film, Kahaani, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. It is set to hit theatres on March 9.
