Mumbai, May 24 -- Thirty-three years after the classic line 'Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin namukin hai' was heard in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don (1978), director Chandra Barot returns with a film called Neil Ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahin Namumkin Hai (NKPMHNNH). Produced by wife Deepa and presented by Anup Jalota, the film has Asha Bhosle rendering three songs. The songstress, who crooned the memorable 'Yeh mera dil...' in Don, picturised on Helen and later Kareena Kapoor, recorded a romantic duet with Shaan for NKPMHNNH last Saturday.
In '91, Barot had directed Pyaar Bhara Dil for which Gulshan Kumar had offered him a choice of 30 compositions from the T-Series music bank. He picked 'Ban ke kitab teri...' that marked the debut of Nikhil Kamath as a music director. Twenty years later, Barot has returned to Kamath to compose for this film.
"Ashaji insisted that she'd sing my songs only if she liked them. I composed 'Har ghadi...' in two days and played it for her on her harmonium last week. It's a fusion track with a mix of the 'vichitra veena' and electric guitar. She loved it," says Kamath. Last Saturday, she reported at Yashraj Studio at 3 pm for the recording. She insisted on four to five rehearsals before taking the microphone, and gave around eight takes for Kamath to pick from. "She even added her own 'harkats' to give the song the Asha Bhosle touch," says Kamath.
"We were finished by 5.30 pm and I was praised for my 'original' composition. Now I have to come up with a rocking item number." The film is a light-hearted action movie revolving around Neil (Ameek Vishwas Rao), an industralist's son who kidnaps a girl (Sanam Bakshi) for a moment of fame, only to find out that she's the daughter of a politician.
