Ekta makes her TV acting debut - Latest Bollywood News Gossips

On Wednesday afternoon, soap queen Ekta Kapoor shot for a special episode of CID on Sony Entertainment, where she plays herself, a film and TV show producer. The plot revolves around a serial killer, who specialises in murdering popular celebrities. Ekta is shown as his next target. While promoting her film, she discovers that her life is in danger and she seeks help from the CID bureau headed by ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam).

The capsule that airs next Friday, May 13 and coincides with the release date of the film Ragini MMS, was shot near Chandivli Studios, Andheri east, and was wrapped up in about eight hours. The channel’s programming team, apparently, chased her for weeks to convince her to just pose as herself on the show.

A source from the channel, on condition of anonymity, says, “She doesn’t like facing the camera. She’s made rare appearances on chat Ektashows and reality programmes. Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai was one of her most ambitious projects last year but she didn’t act out a part on any show, including CID, though her movie was integrated in it then. She hardly gives interviews to news channels either. But this time, we got her because she’s going all out to promote Ragini MMS.”

When asked, debutant actor Ekta beams, “I’ve only done this for the movie. But it was super fun.” Ajay Bhal-wankar, head of programming, Sony Entertainment, observes she was at ease before the camera: “Ekta was against it, but we didn’t give up. Once on the sets, she just proved she has everything it takes to be or make a star.”
