Farah, Akshay dump Ashtavinayak

Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan has changed hands without much change in the budget. Trade sources says that the film has a new producer on board - UTV. Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd will no more be producing the film.

A source reveals, “Tees Maar Khan had found buyers even before they had started shooting the film. Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd had bought the film for Rs 48 crore. A signing amount was given to the makers and they started shooting. The remaining amount was to be given by cheque.”

The source continues, “After the shoot started, the production team started calling Ashtavinayak for the remaining amount. It kept getting postponed. After trying several times, they finally gave up.

Last week Farah Khan, Shirish Kunder and Akshay Kumar had a meeting amongst themselves and decided to get a new producer. They fixed up a meeting with Ronnie Screwvala and UTV came on board.”

The new arrangement is suiting everyone except perhaps Ashtavinayak. “UTV is the new producer of Tees Maar Khan. Ashtavinayak was not informed but are now aware of the fact. UTV has signed the movie for a much higher amount than what Ashtavinayak had promised,” adds the source.

The spokesperson for Ashtavinayak refused to comment on the issue. Farah is presently shooting at Malshej Ghat, and her spokesperson says, “At this point of time, we can neither confirm nor deny anything.”
